From Student to Professional: What It's Actually Like to Intern at DIZPOT
Meet Gracie, a Business Management major and DIZPOT's summer intern, working remotely alongside our CTO and web development team on our ERP software, DiZV. Here's what her internship has actually looked like, in her own words.
Why DIZPOT
Gracie wasn't looking for just any internship; she wanted to actually see how a business runs, not just read about it.
"It's a small business, and I was really looking for that kind of environment... as a business management major, I feel like it's really important to see business and how it interacts and how it works. I think that's easier in a small business."

A Day (or Week) in Her Role
During her internship, Gracie worked alongside DIZPOT's CTO and web development team supporting DiZV, the company's internal ERP and business management platform designed to streamline operations across departments. Every week, she works off four to five learning objectives tied directly to her role, with roughly three deliverables a week — everything from documents and presentations to FAQs, bug testing, and user testing on DiZV. Her toolkit is simple: mostly Microsoft, some AI tools, and Jira for tracking bugs and tickets.
Being remote hasn't been a barrier — it's become part of what she likes about the role.
"Everyone is pretty connected, especially over Slack, there's a bunch of channels, and people are either talking about business stuff, or there's ways you connect outside of business, which is also nice, especially being remote... I haven't really had any issues with it being remote, and honestly, I enjoy working remote. It's kind of nice."

Real Work, Real Impact
Ask any intern what "real work" feels like, and you'll usually hear about the moment busywork stopped feeling like busywork. For Gracie, that moment came from something deceptively simple: field mapping.
"I got to work on something called field mapping, which is just where you literally change the name of something in a spreadsheet. But it's pretty important when it comes to what my job is... I literally just sat there and changed the name of things, but that's going to make a real effect for someone. It's cool."

The Growth
While the projects themselves were valuable, Gracie says the biggest transformation came from learning how to communicate and operate in a professional environment.
"Taking my presentation and communication level from educational to professional; 100%. I compared the first Word docs and PowerPoints I did in the first four weeks to what I have done more recently... and it was such a big difference."

"I think I knew before this that I wanted to work in go-to-market strategy, but not necessarily this deep into it. That's honestly been the most surprising thing; figuring out that this is actually what I want to do."

Would She Do It Again?

"I definitely think I would like to have a full-time role."

And her advice to the next student considering DIZPOT:
"I think it's worth it. It really is a good experience, and you're working with people who genuinely care that you're learning something. You have to try and show that you want it, but it's definitely worth it to do some research and figure that out."
